BEMAC has three integrated roles:
- providing support services
- advocating for and implementing development
- producing and presenting culturally diverse arts and cultural products.

BEMAC recognises the diversity of cultures and communities actively contributing to Australian life and therefore supports the practice of culturally diverse art in the context of its cultural background.

BEMAC works to foster recognition and respect for cultural diversity and to create opportunities for development towards a culturally diverse arts and cultural environment.

BEMAC is committed to improving access for artists and others working to create culturally diverse arts and cultural practice - to employment, training and other opportunities for development and support.
We are committed to supporting migrant and refugee communities from a non-English speaking background, in their own arts and cultural development.

BEMAC works in South East Queensland. Our work embraces all art forms. BEMAC is committed to continuing strong support for music, dance and theatre, and developing support for writing, visual arts and multi media.

BEMAC gratefully acknowledges Arts Qld as a major sponsor. We are grateful for financial support from the Music Fund of the Australia Council, the Federal Government's arts funding and advisory body.

Profile:
KULCHA Multicultural Arts of Western Australia was established in 1983 as the Ethnic Music Centre and is today the state's peak presenter of multicultural arts and Australia's leading world music venue.

Western Australia's population has the highest percentage of overseas born residents in Australia (27.7%) with a massive 186 countries of origin represented. The Perth metropolitan area has a greater percentage of overseas-born residents (32.5%) than the State as a whole and is Australia's most multicultural city.

For nearly twenty years, KULCHA has been generating a dynamic program of music and arts projects to advance the development of Australian artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. KULCHA's program is recognised internationally and continues to be seminal to the evolution and recognition of world music in Australia.

In 1997, KULCHA relocated from the remotely located North Perth Town Hall to a purpose equipped music venue in the centre of the City of Fremantle. The venue has a professional sound, lighting and stage system, capacity for 200 people, seating and a licensed bar. This self-generated initiative was made possible through the vision and energy of it's Board of Management, staff, members and the attraction of corporate sponsorships. The venue has consolidated the organisation as a professional presenter of Australian multicultural artists.

In the past three years the organisation has become a fully professional identity, which has significantly increased employment opportunities for multicultural artists and in communities as well as the engaging wider public interest and support with culturally diverse artforms.
