Arts in Action has been at the forefront of the disability arts movement since its incorporation in 1989. As the peak disability organisation for arts and disability in South Australia we promote access and participation in the arts by all people with disabilities, and recognise that the arts have become the language of disability culture.
Arts in Action is a member of the DADAA National Network (Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts, Australia), Australia's peak body working in Arts and Disability. Arts in Action continues to explore and build local and global networks through affiliation with national and international disability arts organisations. We also maintain regular contact with artists with disabilities from both Australia and overseas. Our aim is to facilitate voice and expression for people with disabilities.

Event planning and management is included in our services, in addition to lobbying, addressing issues of access, social interaction and equality.

The South Australian Government assists artists and arts activities through Arts SA, an arm of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

Arts SA develops and administers policy settings that generate benefits for all South Australians by encouraging artistic excellence and innovation. Twin objectives are to create opportunities for South Australian artists and audiences, both existing and potential.

Since Arts SA is an arm of the South Australian Government its policy settings are consistent with the Government's broader policy objectives in related areas such as employment, education, economic development and tourism. Through support for Indigenous arts, and artists with disabilities, for example, the arts can advance important processes such as reconciliation and the development of a compassionate and inclusive society.

Arts SA is committed to:
- continuing to develop the role that participation in the arts plays in enriching, challenging and humanising our society and expressing individual and community aspirations
- ensuring that the arts in South Australia continues to hold its unique national creative leadership position
- giving artists and arts organisations developmental opportunities to assist them in building lifelong, independent careers
- rewarding performance in order to provide maximum encouragement for the production of excellence

CAN SA is the peak body for community arts and is the principal source of community cultural development, information, advice and support services in South Australia.

A not for profit, membership based organisation, CAN is managed by a Board of Management elected from the membership annually. The day to day management of the organisation is undertaken by a dedicated staff team.

A community based organisation, CAN builds long term partnerships with other community sectors such as local government, health, housing, youth, and disability, where the use of the arts is seen as an effective development tool.

Through a range of programs, including performing arts touring, visual arts touring, gallery spaces, community cultural development funding, and the management of four major regional arts centres, Country Arts SA increases access and participation in the arts for all South Australians.

Country Arts SA is a South Australian Government Statutory Authority and operates under the provisions of the South Australian Country Arts Trust Act 1992. Responsibility for Country Arts SA is within the portfolio of the Minister for the Arts and a ministerially appointed Board of Trustees. Country Arts SA has a decentralised organisational structure with over 70% of its staff living and working across country South Australia.

To ensure that arts decisions are made locally, Country Arts SA operates four country divisions (Central, Western, South East, and Riverland / Mallee). Each of these divisions has its own Country Arts Board whose principal responsibility is to oversee the achievement of local arts priorities.

Country Arts SA delivers arts programs through:
- managing and operating performing arts centres, at Whyalla, Port Pirie, Renmark, and Mount Gambier
- developing performing arts programs for the Centres and for touring to other regional towns
- developing and managing visual arts touring programs and visual arts display spaces
- managing a number of arts development and community artist funding programs
- advocating for the continuing development of the arts in country South Australia
- providing arts information and an advisory service to country South Australians.
