Kickstart Arts is an independent arts company that grew from the Tasmanan Trades and Labor Council (TTLC) Arts Officer program.

We aim to challenge community members from all over Tasmania to get involved in contemporary art making that is ambitious socially as well as creatively. We are passionate about the power of art to transform our lives and about providing opportunities for people who exist on the margins – whether because of their low income, their race, culture or geography – to work creatively together.

Kickstart is achieving this through creating partnerships and producing community-focused arts projects which conceptually link art and cultural issues with the agendas of other sectors such as industry, welfare, health, education, tourism and science. We wish to apply the creative processes that artists practice to other paradigms in order to create shifts in people’s thinking about what is possible.
